JUST IN: Ramadan And Lent To Begin Today
News this evening indicate that Muslims the crescent of the moon has been sighted and Muslims will start the holly month of Ramadan tomorrow 18th according to an announcement relayed by the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council headquarters at old Kampala this evening.
The sighting of the crescent of the moon marks a month long period of fasting the Muslim faithful and the next sighting of the crescent of the moon will mark the end of Ramadan and celebration of Eid-el-fitr follows.
Coincidentally even Christians especially the Anglicans and Catholics will also mark Ash Wednesday tomorrow to also commence their period of lent which will last for 40 days and will be followed by the way of the cross, Good Friday and Easter which mark the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ and his ascension to heaven.
