BREAKING! Uganda, United Arab Emirates Implement Free Travel Visa for Section of Nationals
The governments of Uganda and the United Arab Emirates have announced the commencement of Visa Waiver Agreement between their nationals for Holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports.
This was confirmed in a press statement issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs today, Tuesday, February 17, 2026 and signed by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Simon Peter Mundeyi.
Mundeyi says the commencement follows an agreement signed by the two countries on 7th May, 2025 which facilitates visa free travel for holders of specific categories of passports between the two countries.
For nationals of UAE, nationals holding Diplomatic, Special, Ordinary and Service Passports are exempted to obtain a Visa for entry and stay in Uganda for a period not exceeding 90 days.
Meanwhile for Ugandans possessing Diplomatic and Service Passports are the ONLY ONES exempted from obtaining a Visa to enter and stay in UAE for a period not exceeding 90 days in any 180 –day preceding each day of stay.
Mundeyi says, the visa waiver for UAE nationals wishing to enter to Uganda actually came into effect on 10th February, 2026.
