JUST IN! NUP Deputy President Northern, Dr. Zedriga Remanded Further
The Deputy President for Northern region, Dr. Lina Zedriga has further been remanded to prison having appeared before Gulu Chief Magistrate, Augustine Alule Koma for bail application today, 17th February, 2026.
The Chief Magistrate ruled that State Attorney, Patricia Adyedo requires more time to review the bail application documents submitted by the defense lawyers.
Earlier, Counsel Salim Hadad, one of the lawyers representing Dr. Lina Zedriga, succeeded in securing her appearance in court in person after she complained that the video link was unclear.
The Gulu Chief Magistrate, Augustine Alule Koma, ruled in favor of Dr. Zedriga and ordered prison authorities to produce her at Court.
This followed the state attorney, Ms. Patricia Edyedo, who did not object to the application. The state noted that the matter is still under investigation and requested a mention date.
The bail hearing has been deferred to Tuesday 24/2/2026, to give state time to scrutinize the documents submitted by the sureties.
Zedriga is facing charges of inciting violence linked to the 2026 General Election. The prosecution alleges that she committed the offences in December 2025 in Gulu, Amuru and Nwoya districts by inciting National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters to attack members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). Zedriga denies the charges.
