Oyam NRM Chairperson Appeals for Increased Lango Representation in Forthcoming Cabinet Reshuffle
Oyam, Uganda – Bosco Onyik, the Oyam District National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairperson, has called on President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to appoint more ministers and public officials from the Lango sub-region in his next round of government appointments.
Speaking to journalists in Lira City on Wednesday evening, Onyik, a senior NRM cadre and veteran journalist, urged the president to reward the Lango sub-region for overwhelmingly voting for him in the January 2026 general elections.
Onyik noted that out of the 19 NRM-elected Members of Parliament and 12 opposition MPs from Lango, he hopes President Museveni will consider more individuals from the region for high-ranking positions.
“It is my prayer that His Excellency the President, this time, should appoint more sons and daughters of Lango as ministers, permanent secretaries, ambassadors, Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), Deputy RDCs, and other commissioners in various ministries,” Onyik stated.
He expressed confidence that President Museveni will recognize the region’s strong support for the NRM, citing Oyam’s impressive voter turnout of 87,940 votes at 85.93 percent for Museveni.
