One Dead After Trailer Collapses at Oilcom Station in Mukono
Eyewitnesses at the scene of the accident.
At least one person has been confirmed dead after a trailer travelling from Kampala to Jinja collapsed at the Oilcom petrol station in Upper Kauga, Mukono.
According to eyewitnesses, the trailer was attempting to give way to another vehicle that was approaching with sirens. In the process of making space, the driver reportedly veered off the road towards the station’s price board.
It was at that moment that a boda-boda rider, who had parked nearby, rushed back in an attempt to retrieve his motorcycle. Realising the danger, he tried to flee the scene, but it was too late. The trailer struck the Oilcom price board, which came crashing down and fatally injured the rider.
Authorities have yet to release the identity of the deceased as investigations into the circumstances of the incident continue.
