Police in Kassanda District are investigating the death of a 30-year-old bar proprietor who was allegedly killed following a late-night fight linked to a domestic dispute.

The deceased, Ivan Ahimbisibwe, owned E-Zone Bar and Lodges located in Lugongwe Trading Centre, Kijuna Subcounty.

He was reportedly attacked in the early hours of the morning after a confrontation with a man who had visited the bar with his girlfriend.

According to eyewitness accounts, the incident began at around 1:00 a.m. when Murundi Fabrice entered the bar in the company of his girlfriend, Namukisa Pofia.

Witnesses say Ahimbisibwe served the woman a bottle of Pilsner beer, a gesture that reportedly angered her boyfriend.

"The man appeared uncomfortable when the lady was offered a drink," one eyewitness said. "He grabbed her and stormed out of the bar."

Ahimbisibwe is said to have followed the couple outside, where a physical altercation broke out between the two men. The woman reportedly left the scene and returned home as the fight continued.

Bar attendants grew concerned when their employer failed to return to the premises after a prolonged absence.

A search was conducted, and Ahimbisibwe's body was later discovered in a nearby bush with multiple deep cuts to the face.

The Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, SSP Lameck Kigozi, confirmed the incident and said police received the report from a resident, Senyonjo Isaiah.

"Upon receiving the information, the District Police Commander of Kassanda dispatched a homicide team to the scene," SSP Kigozi said. "Two suspects have since been arrested to assist with investigations."

Murundi Fabrice was apprehended at a local clinic where he had reportedly sought treatment for injuries sustained during the fight. Namukisa Pofia was later arrested from her residence in Lugongwe Town.

Police conveyed the body of Ahimbisibwe to Kassanda Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.

Authorities have urged members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid violence, warning that confrontations fueled by anger can quickly escalate into tragic outcomes.
