CCTV Hunt Launched After Stolen Hospital Vehicle Disappears in Gulu
GULU CITY — Security agencies in Gulu are banking on CCTV footage to track down unknown persons who stole a vehicle belonging to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital last week, as investigations into the incident officially commence.
The stolen vehicle, a Land Cruiser hard body pickup, was taken from the hospital premises on Tuesday last week under circumstances that remain unclear. Authorities have assured the public that all security apparatus, including surveillance cameras, are being deployed to ensure the recovery of the government asset and apprehension of the culprits.
Ambrose Onoria, the Gulu Resident City Commissioner, revealed that security personnel are already reviewing footage from cameras installed across the city to trace the movement of the vehicle and identify the suspects.
“We shall utilize all security apparatuses available to us, including the use of CCTV cameras, to get the people who stole this vehicle,” Onoria stated. “I want to assure the public that we are leaving no stone unturned in this investigation.”
Walter Uryekwun, the Principal Administrator of Gulu Regional Referral Hospital, confirmed that the hospital administration is working closely with security teams to establish how the crime was executed and where the vehicle may have been taken.
“We are cooperating fully with security agencies to track the whereabouts of our vehicle,” Uryekwun said. “This is a significant loss to the hospital, and we are hopeful for a positive breakthrough.”
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the vehicle is yet to be recovered. However, authorities remain optimistic that the ongoing investigations will yield results in the coming days.
The theft has raised concerns about security at the hospital premises, with some staff members calling for enhanced surveillance and access control measures to prevent future incidents.
