Muhoozi Kainerugaba Endorses Adonia Ayebare for State Minister Role, Mentions Possible Positions for PLU Members
Kampala, Uganda — Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has publicly expressed support for Ambassador Adonia Ayebare for the position of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
In a series of posts published on his official X account on Sunday, Gen. Muhoozi stated: “I support Ambassador (@adoniaayebare) for Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.”
Ambassador Ayebare currently serves as Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and has previously held senior diplomatic and advisory roles within government.
In another post, Gen. Muhoozi also voiced support for Hon. Henry Okello Oryem in relation to the Foreign Affairs portfolio.
“For the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs, I would be a criminal if I didn’t support my big brother Hon. Okello Oryem,” he wrote.
Okello Oryem currently serves as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (International Affairs).
Gen. Muhoozi further indicated that senior members of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) could assume government positions following an assessment process by President Yoweri Museveni.
“I’m sure our other senior members of PLU shall also get positions once Mzee finishes assessing them. Including Hon. Daudi Kabanda,” he posted.
He later made a lighthearted remark referencing Hon. Daudi Kabanda, which has since attracted attention online.
The posts quickly generated discussion across social media platforms, with supporters welcoming the endorsements while others called for clarity on any potential cabinet changes.
Gen. Muhoozi’s comments add to ongoing public discourse surrounding leadership dynamics and political developments within Uganda’s governance structure.
