BREAKING! Alebtong District Health Officer Remanded Over Shs165M Loss

The Alebtong District Health Officer has been arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court on charges of causing financial loss to Government amounting to Shs165,520,800 through irregular payments and failure to follow proper procurement procedures.
Dr. Odung Tony who he charged together with former Chief Administrative Officer, Otim Ben Ogwette, and CFO, Andeoye Stephen, who are still at large took plea on Tuesday, 24th February, 2026 and was remanded until 5th March, 2026.
According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit that carried out the investigations and arrest, Dr, Odur accused, together with Otim Ben Ogwette, Andeoye Stephen allegedly made an irregular payment of Shs165,520,800 to Otada Construction Ltd without securing an advance payment guarantee for the upgrade of Angweta Health Centre II and Angwei Health Centre II to Health Centre IIIs in the FY 2019/2020.
Otada Construction Ltd later abandoned the project, causing financial loss to the Government.
Meanwhile, criminal summons have been issued to the former CAO and CFO to appear on the same date, (5th March, 2026) for plea taking.
