Armed Suspects Arrested Near Petrol Station After Alert from Private Security
Police in Kampala Metropolitan Area have arrested two suspects who were found armed with a panga near Total petrol station in Kabuusu on the night of 26th February 2026. The arrest followed a timely alert from a private security officer who noticed suspicious movement around the petrol station and quickly informed the police. The incident happened at around 9:00 p.m., raising concern among residents and motorists in the area.
According to police reports, a vehicle with registration number UBG 514R first approached the petrol station, turned back, and then returned about ten minutes later. The vehicle reportedly dropped off two men opposite the same station before driving away. Their behavior immediately drew attention, as they appeared to be waiting and observing their surroundings in an unusual manner.
The Operations Manager of Folalicon Security Company spotted the two men and noticed that one of them was carrying a panga. Suspecting that they could be planning to commit a crime, he acted quickly and reported the matter to police officers who were on beat duty at the traffic lights in Kabuusu.
Police officers who were on motorcycle patrol responded without delay. They moved to the scene, intercepted the suspects, and conducted a search. During the search, the officers recovered a panga from the suspects, confirming the security officer’s fears. The two men were immediately taken into custody for further investigation.
Police in Kampala Metropolitan Area have praised the quick action of the private security officer and the prompt response of the patrol team. They noted that cooperation between private security companies and the police is very important in preventing crime before it happens.
Investigations into the matter are still ongoing, and the suspects are expected to be charged accordingly. Police have urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity, especially at night, as such cooperation plays a key role in keeping communities safe.
