Top Ugandan Ambassador Dies At Mulago Hospital While Receiving Treatment
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Uganda has confirmed the death of a senior envoy Ambassador Mary Laker Kinyera who died on Tuesday night while receiving treatment at Mulago Hospital.
In a statement confirming her death, the Minister of Foreign Affairs did not reveal the illness but expressed deep sadness for the loss of such a senior envoy who has served in the ministry for 32 years.
At the time of her death, Kinyera was the Deputy Head of Mission in Kigali, Rwanda. Tributes from colleagues and members of the diplomatic community continue to pour in, with many describing her as a committed professional who played a key role in Uganda’s foreign service.
It is with profound shock and sorrow that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces the passing of our dear colleague Amb. @SantaLaker Kinyera which occurred this morning at Mulago Specialized National referral hospital.
