Ono Bwino can exclusively report that pop star turned politician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) and his family will be allowed to access their multibillion Magere home after President Yoweri Museveni’s swearing-in as the newly elected president.
Haji Yunus Kakande the Permanent Secretary to the Office of the president who also sits on the organizing committee for the president’s swearing-in ceremony said that preparation meetings started this week on Thursday and all concerned officials were invited.
He said that the President is expected to take oath on 12th May, 2026 at Kololo independence ground.
Highly placed security sources said that the plan was to place Bobi Wine under house arrest or be forcefully put under custody until the President takes oath.
They divulged that this decision was taken based on intelligence information which suggested that Bobi Wine was planning to disorganise Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony.
Sources disclosed that Bobi Wine outsmarted security and sneaked out of his home immediately after casting his vote and he was later helped by a powerful diplomat to move out of the country.
His wife Barbra Itungo and the children also followed him after the military raided their home. She accused them of manhandling and torturing her while asking her to reveal Bobi Wine’s Whereabouts.
Sources claim that Bobi Wine will join his family in United States after holding meetings with his contacts and funders in Scandinavian countries.
Sources maintained that once they closely monitor the security situation and realise that there are no more plans to distabilise the country, security is likely to withdraw from Bobi Wine’s home at the end of May but a few will remain to monitor the situation until Bobi Wine comes back and takes control of his home.
Joel Ssenyonyi the Leader of Opposition in Parliament said that currently, the military has taken control of the entire home and have placed their tents inside his boss’s compound while using his facilities including toilets.
It should be remembered that all the times Dr Kizza Besigye has contested with president Museveni, he has always been placed under house arrest by security until the president elect swears in.
Sources said that security disorganized NUP plans when they arrested their top party leaders and supporters and slapped them with criminal charges.
David Lewis Rubongoya the party Secretary General said that the party is still functioning and very soon they are going to meet all their grassroot leaders including all members who participated in the 2026 general elections.
Rubongoya also invited all Ugandans who lost their people by way of being kidnapped or arrested to go to their party headquarters at Makerere Kavule and register their details to help them in seeking for justice.
He added that they are planning to petition local and international courts while seeking for justice for all victims of the 2026 security violence.
