27-Year-Old Arrested After Attempted Robbery in Najeera

Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that the church management reported the death to the authorities.

KAMPALA, UGANDA —Police in the Kampala Metropolitan area have arrested a 27-year-old man suspected of attempting to rob a resident in Najeera, a suburb of Kampala.

The suspect has been identified as Hussein Wagaba, a resident of Kayunga in Wakiso District. He was arrested on Friday, March 6, 2026, following a prompt response by security personnel after reports of the attempted robbery.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan Police, the suspect was intercepted shortly after the incident was reported.

Owoyesigyire said security officers acted swiftly, leading to the arrest of the suspect before he could escape.

He added that Wagaba is currently being detained as police continue gathering evidence to support possible charges against him.

Police also revealed that operations have been intensified across the Kampala Metropolitan area to combat the increasing cases of robbery and related criminal activities.
