Charcoal Broker Turns Predator! Woman Severely Attacked in Kyankwanzi Forest
Police in Kyankwanzi are searching for a man identified as Maganda Isaac, a resident of Lubiri, Kyankwanzi Subcounty, following a violent attack on a local businesswoman. The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, had hired Maganda Isaac to broker forest trees for charcoal burning in Ranch Number 5 in Kyankwanzi. She had paid him in advance, and her workers had already started preparing the charcoal.
Late at night on March 14, 2023, the woman went to the forest to pay her workers. She informed Maganda Isaac that she would be coming. However, instead of helping her, Maganda Isaac pretended to escort her into the forest before turning violently against her. He cut her severely and stole the money she had brought for her workers, fleeing immediately afterward.
A Good Samaritan discovered the injured woman and rushed her to Hoima Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment. Maganda Isaac is already known to the police, having a criminal record and currently out on bail for stealing goats. Authorities in Kyankwanzi are now appealing to the public to provide any information that may help locate him.
A report of the incident has been filed at Bukwiri Police Station. Residents of Kyankwanzi Subcounty and the wider Kyankwanzi District are urged to alert police immediately if they recognize Maganda Isaac or know his whereabouts.
Police spokesperson L. Kigozi of the Wamala Region emphasized the urgency of the search and called for community cooperation to bring the criminal to justice.
