JUST IN! Three Arrested for Impersonating Inspector General of Police
Three fraudsters have been arrested for allegedly impersonating the person of the Inspector General of Police with intent to dupe unsuspecting members of the Police Force.
The trio has been identified as; Ariho Abubakar Uthmaan, Bukenya Fayim, and Kaweesi Dalton.
According to a police statement issued by KMP Police Spokesperson, SP Rachael Kawala today, Thursday, March 26, 2026, the trio is currently being detained at Jinja Road CPS.
The suspects who were arrested on 24th March 2026 have allegedly been impersonating the Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, on various social media platforms with the intent to extort money from police officers and members of the public.
Kawala says a case of personation has since been registered adding that a search conducted at the suspects’ premises led to the recovery of electronic devices and documents believed to have been used in the commission of the crime.
