President Museveni Awards NRM Mobilisers 50 Brand-New Motorcycles Through Hajjat Amina Mukalazi
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, through Hajjat Amina Mukalazi, the head of the State House Local Content Unit, has awarded 50 brand-new motorcycles to four different National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobilisation groups in appreciation of their efforts during the recent campaigns.
The handover ceremony took place at Eagle General Traders, a company that assembles Haojue motorcycles, at its headquarters in Namanve Industrial Park. Hajjat Mukalazi, who officiated as the guest of honour, said that following the elections, President Museveni expressed great satisfaction with the mobilisers’ work, which contributed to the NRM’s success at all levels, including local government and parliamentary positions.
She noted that the President had pledged to reward the mobilisers and encourage continued grassroots mobilisation for the party. Through the State House Local Content Unit, efforts were made to identify a suitable form of support, leading to a partnership with Haojue to provide the motorcycles.
In this first phase, four groups benefited: Tonta received 15 motorcycles, the Rapid Response Unit received 15, the NRM Youth High Command received 12, and Nabugerere received eight motorcycles.
In addition to the motorcycles, the Haojue management provided fuel cards worth UGX 50,000, helmets, free servicing, key holders, and other accessories.
Hajjat Mukalazi encouraged the beneficiaries to use the motorcycles productively, such as operating boda boda services to earn income or transporting agricultural produce to nearby markets. She cautioned against misuse of the motorcycles for harmful activities.
She also commended Eagle General Traders for prioritising the employment of Ugandans, particularly young men and women who are involved in assembling the motorcycles. Furthermore, she urged the mobilisers to join efforts in fighting corruption, noting that it has hindered the country’s development.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mumbeere, the Managing Director of Eagle General Traders, thanked Hajjat Mukalazi for selecting their company among many motorcycle assemblers in Uganda, saying it reflects confidence in the quality of their products.
The NRM mobilisers, led by Commander Salim Menton, expressed gratitude to the President for fulfilling his promise. Salim urged members to use the motorcycles collectively through SACCO structures so that all members can benefit, rather than for individual gain.
