The Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Jacob Markson Oboth-Oboth, has bade farewell the outgoing Russian Ambassador to Uganda, Vladlen Semivolos, who paid a courtesy call on him at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs headquarters in Mbuya on Friday.
During the meeting, Minister Oboth-Oboth and Ambassador Semivolos held discussions on the longstanding bilateral relations between Uganda and Russia, with particular emphasis on cooperation in the areas of defence and security.
Minister Oboth-Oboth commended the ambassador for his service and appreciated the Russian government for its continued support and collaboration with Uganda.
“You are a credible ambassador who has represented your country in the true spirit of diplomacy,” he said.
Ambassador Semivolos reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to strengthening its ties withUganda and thanked the Government and people of Uganda for the cordial diplomatic relations extended to him during his tenure.
The meeting was part of Ambassador Semivolos’ farewell engagements ahead of the conclusion of his diplomatic tour of duty in Uganda.
