Teachers arrested over charging school fees
Four teachers from Kibanda government aided Secondary School in Kiryandongo District have been detained for allegedly charging school fees; the head teacher, Mdm. Sarah Ssekalumba, is currently at large.
It is alleged that the school’s administration has been charging between 150,000 and 200,000 shillings per student, as the teachers and their Headmaster are said to have sent some of the learners back home for school fees.
Mr. Sam Mbabazi, the assistant RDC explained that he ordered the arrests of the teachers and the head teacher yesterday after they failed to provide a convincing explanation on why they sent learners home and why they demanded money from parents.
