Security chiefs and business groups across the Country are living on total fear and panic after police annual crime report indicates that gun robberies have increased and billions of money were lost , Spyreports has learnt.

According to the released police report, a total of 786 cash robbery cases were reported to police in 2025 compared to 573 in 2024 making an increase of 37.2%. Sources in intelligence circles say 37.2% also doubles to robbed cash to a tune of 900bn.

The report further shows that cases where people were robbed on gun point also rose from 193 cases in 2024 to 352 in 2025. “The number of guns that were used in cash robberies also increased in 2025 compared to 2024,” An intelligence source revealed to Spyreports.

However the report shows a total decline in robbery cases in 2025 compared to 2024 where by a total of 7863 robbery cases were reported in 2025 compared to 8163 in 2024 with a decline of 3.7%. “Agriviated robberies where lethal weapons were not used constituted to 1317 cases where lethal weapons such as guns, knives,harmmers among others were applied were 6546,” Reads part of the report.

The report shows that 2733 cases were taken to courts of law, 1054 did not proceed while 4076 are still under inquiry. In CID Boss’s report, he indicated that Kampala Metropolitan Police highest numbers of robbery cases amounting to 2455 followed by Rwiizi with 567 and North Kyoga with 429 among others. “Highest cases of cash robberies were high in areas of Kawempe,Wakiso,Old Kampala ,Nansana followed by Nakawa, Luzira among others with total cases standing at 149 cases,”
