Road Section Where Besigye Planted Banana Suckers Gets Constructed

Early this week the joint forces of change announced that they would be planting bananas in city roads and else where to expose the mess of infrastructures in the country. Police warned that the protests won’t happen because the country is hosting high level global summits where security of the delegates is paramount.

Dr Kiiza Besigye on Wednesday just one day before the planned protests, planted banana suckers in the road leading to the city in Kasangati Town council [Jinja-Kayunga-Kampala]. He said the road is broken and was causing accidents as motorists try to dodge the potholes. He planted the banana suckers with help of some boys as motorists cheered him to plant more.

Thursday came, the day for protests but police and army surrounded homes of opposition politicians like Bobi Wine, Besigye and Lukwago and indeed these never came closer to the city as planned.

However, authorities in Kasangati town council and Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) didn’t wait for more reminders from Dr Kiiza Besigye and as of yesterday Friday 19th January 2024, they had started renovating several sections of the road where Besigye planted the banana suckers.

Besigye and Lukwago is still caged in his home by the army and police until they find it fit to leave their homes. But Bobi Wine yesterday escaped the house detention and he was seen in the city and managed to plant banana suckers in areas of Katwe.
