BREAKING! 3 Kenya Petroleum Chain Managers Fired over Creation of Imaginary Fuel Shortages

The President of the Republic of Kenya has caused the arrest of three managers of primary duty bearers in charge of administering the Petrol Supply Chain for manipulating data on in-country stocks to create false impression of an impending fuel shortfall.

According to a press release dated today, Saturday, April 4, 2026, by Felix Koskei, Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, the three suspects who were arrested on 2nd April, 2026 are; Mr. Mohamed Liban, the Principal Secretary State Department of Petroleum, Joe Sang (Managing Director, Kenya Pipeline Company) and Daniel Kitpoo Bargoria, (Director General, Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

The Trio together with others went ahead to irregularly procure an emergency fuel cargo by the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum in blatant breach of existing G2G framework, at higher contractual prices and of relatively poor quality.

The trio was effectively arrested and forced to resign their positions with immediate effect as investigations continue with a view of their prosecution.

Meanwhile, Joseph Wafula, Deputy Director Petroleum Department is facing administrative disciplinary action together with his counterpart, Joel Mburu, the Supply and logistics Manager at Kenya Pipeline Company.
