Soroti: Suspects in Mobile Money Robbery, Murder Arrested
Police in Soroti City have arrested four key suspects in connection with the aggravated robbery and fatal shooting of Kokunda Patricia, a mobile money operator.
According to the Uganda Police Force (UPF), the incident occurred on April 3, 2026, at ØÙˆØ§Ù„ÙŠ 4:40am at Teso Coach Park along Station Road near Goalman Supermarket. The victim was attacked by armed assailants, robbed, and shot dead.
Police say investigations were immediately intensified in coordination with other security agencies, leading to a series of arrests.
Two suspects, identified as Okello Alex and Onego Felix, were arrested on the day of the incident. A third suspect, Epeu Simon, also known as Iboda, was later apprehended in Anyara, Kalaki District. Authorities recovered UGX 7 million believed to be part of the stolen money.
On April 4, 2026, security operatives arrested the suspected shooter, Elacu Alfred, in Orungo, Amuria District. The victim’s smartphone was also recovered after it had been discarded in a bush in Kichinjani.
Police say investigations are still ongoing, with efforts focused on recovering additional exhibits and possibly apprehending more suspects linked to the crime.
