UNMASKED! Reports Link Speaker Anita Among to Multi-Billion Five-Star Entebbe Road Home

A high-value residential property along the Entebbe–Kampala Bypass has drawn public attention following reports linking it to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Anet Among. However, ownership of the property has not been independently verified.

The residence, described as a five-star–style private home, is located at the Mutungo–Lubugumo junction near Stretcher Road, opposite Mutungo Police Station. The property overlooks Lake Victoria and the Kigo Serena Hotel, placing it one of the most magnificent residential building in the area.

Local residents and sources familiar with the area say the property is now occupied by a high-profile individual. They also report increased security presence, including both uniformed and plainclothes personnel providing round-the-clock surveillance. The identity of the occupant, however, remains unconfirmed.

The property sits within an upscale neighbourhood known for hosting prominent figures in business and public service. Nearby residents are said to include; businessman Amos Nzeyi, Fabian Kasi, Managing Director of Centenary Bank, Michael Mugabi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Housing Finance Bank, former Minister John Nasasira, former Bank of Uganda Deputy Governor Louis Kasekende, former Works Minister Asuman Kiyingi, and Finance Trust Bank Managing Director Annet Nakawunde, among others. Interestingly it is a few kilometres away from the famous traditional healer Senga Kulanama.

The area is informally referred to by some residents as “Bankers’ Lane,” reflecting its association with high-income earners and senior officials. It is also located within proximity to the residence of Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa.

Residents indicate that the land on which the property stands was previously undeveloped. The residence is estimated to sit on more than an acre and includes additional structures within a secured compound. Property values in the area are also reported to have risen significantly in recent years, with plots previously estimated between UGX 600 million and UGX 750 million.

History Background

The reported development is heightened by the Speaker’s national profile and previous public scrutiny. In 2021, shortly after her election as Deputy Speaker, allegations contained in a leaked dossier raised claims of corruption and bribery. The matter was reportedly referenced to the Office of the Inspector General of Government (IGG), although no publicly confirmed findings have been issued.

The same dossier also referenced a property transaction involving businessman Karim Hirji in Nakasero. These claims remain unproven in the public domain.

In August 2023, Rt. Hon. Among hosted a thanksgiving event in Bukedea District attended by Members of Parliament, ministers, and other dignitaries, where she unveiled a separate country residence.

In 2024, further allegations emerged linking her to a property in London. President Museveni directed investigations into the claims over possible breaches of the Leadership Code. The Speaker denied the allegations and called for evidence to substantiate them.

Sources within the area suggest that the Entebbe Road property may be associated with a senior government official, with some accounts linking it to Speaker Among. However, no official documentation and communication confirming ownership has been made publicly available.

While the scale, location, and heightened security presence surrounding the property continue to generate public interest, key details regarding ownership remain unverified.
