Members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Mityana District are mourning the passing of Augustine Nshimye, a retired Supreme Court Justice, whom they describe as a committed public servant who left a lasting impact on both the judiciary and the local community.

Justice Nshimye, who also represented Mityana South in Parliament from 2001 to 2006, is remembered for his contributions to governance, justice, and development in the district. Party members say his leadership, both on the bench and in elective politics, reflected integrity and dedication to service.

“He was a principled leader who served his country with honor in the judiciary and also stood firm in representing the people of Mityana South,” John Kasozi, Mayor of Central Division, noted.

Leaders within the party further praised his role during his time in Parliament, highlighting his efforts in shaping legislation and advocating for the concerns of his constituents. “During his tenure, he consistently championed the needs of his people and contributed meaningfully to national debates,” said Kizito Gumira, NRM mobilizer for Mityana.

His death has left a gap in both political and judicial circles, with many describing him as a mentor and a respected figure whose legacy will continue to inspire future leaders.
