Father on the Run After Attacking 17-Year-Old Daughter with a Panga

A 17-year-old girl identified only as Akunda is receiving treatment in hospital after she was allegedly attacked by her biological father, Mucunguzi Innocent.

The incident is reported to have occurred during the night, with the teenager sustaining serious injuries. She was later rescued and rushed to a government health facility, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Hon. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, confirmed the incident.

“A 17-year-old girl, Akunda, was rescued after being violently attacked and severely injured by her biological father, identified as Mucunguzi Innocent,” the minister said.

The suspect is currently on the run, and authorities have appealed to the public to assist in his arrest.

“Anyone with information that may assist in his arrest is urged to report to the nearest police station immediately,” the statement added.

The incident has sparked widespread concern, with calls for swift justice and stronger protection for children.

Police are yet to issue an official statement regarding the circumstances surrounding the attack.
