1 Dead, 1 Injured as HMK Bus Overturns Motorcycle in Gulu City

A tragic accident occurred on April 8, 2026, at around 10pm along the Gulu-Kampala highway in Layibi-Bardege Division, Gulu City.

A yellow Isuzu Bus (UA 368CK) of HMK Company, driven by Hwumba Vincent, 54, allegedly overtook a motorcycle (UFS 137W) driven by Nisima, 22, who tragically died on the spot.

Talemwa, 22, a passenger on the motorcycle, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus and motorcycle were traveling in the same direction when the bus attempted to overtake the motorcycle, which was turning left, resulting in the fatal collision.

Police have launched an investigation, and both vehicles have been impounded at Gulu CPS. The deceased's body is at Gulu City Mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
