Police Bust Gambling Hotspots, Recover Gun in Wakiso

Police in Entebbe have recovered a pistol during an intelligence-led operation aimed at combating crime.

The operation was conducted on Saturday across the areas of Wamala, Buzzi, Lutaba, and Ssisa Village in Wakiso District. It targeted houses under construction in Hossana Estate and Jomayi Estate, as well as known gambling hotspots.

The crackdown followed public outcry over an individual suspected of possessing an illegal firearm. A total of 16 suspects were arrested during the exercise.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala said one of the suspects, identified as Segujja Ronald, later led officers to the recovery of the pistol, which has since been secured as an exhibit.

Kawala added that all suspects remain in police custody and will be arraigned in court in due course.
