No One Can Challenge Me”: Ruto Dismisses Opposition, Says “None Is My Size”

President William Ruto has brushed aside his political rivals, asserting that no opposition leader possesses the necessary qualifications to challenge him in the 2027 general election. During a development tour of Nyamira County, the president argued that his opponents lack the political influence, vision, and track record required to mount a formidable campaign against his administration.

“Do they really know me? If you weigh them, do you think there is anyone among them who is my size?” Ruto asked.

The president took aim at opposition figures for what he characterized as a lack of a clear roadmap for the country. He argued that genuine political contests should revolve around concrete ideas and policies rather than mere rhetoric.“The opposition should have an agenda, a plan, and a vision for the country, and then we can compete,” he said. “As things stand now, we cannot compete because they have no agenda, plan, or manifesto.”

The president pointed out that the ultimate power to choose leadership lies with the voters rather than the political elite. He urged Kenyans to prioritize development records when electing representatives at every level of government, from the grassroots to the presidency.

“It is the people who will decide who the governor, MCA, Woman Rep, MP, Senator, and President will be,” he said. “It is not those leaders in the Opposition who will decide but you people.”

The president added that voters should prioritize actual performance over personality or political theatrics. He argued that the electorate should judge candidates based on their tangible results rather than their appearance or their ability to criticize opponents.

“When you will be electing leaders, you will look at their track records and not at how good-looking one might be. You will elect someone due to the work they have done and not the insults they have hurled at their rivals.”

During the tour, Ruto highlighted his administration’s development agenda, pledging to showcase completed projects as the foundation of his re-election bid. He promised to return to the region to account for the markets, roads, electrical connections, and hospital equipment delivered under his leadership.

“I will come to show you the markets I have built, the roads I have constructed, the power I have connected, and the hospitals I have equipped,” Ruto said.

In a pointed critique, Ruto accused opposition figures of relying on intimidation and empty threats, asserting that such tactics would fail to unseat him. He further challenged his critics to present their development records, questioning whether they had contributed anything meaningful to the local community in Nyamira.

“And they will not intimidate anyone in our country. They cannot tell us that they will remove the president,” he said. “Right here in Nyamira, is there a church they have built? Is there any road they have constructed here or even a classroom? They should stop intimidating people.”

The president promised to shield citizens from political harassment, pledging to maintain democratic values and ensure every Kenyan feels included. He argued that the nation belongs to its entire population rather than a select group of political elites.

“And as president, I will not allow anybody to intimidate fellow citizens. Kenya does not belong to a few people but all people, not a few of the political class,” he said.
