The visit follows an invitation by Joseph Ocwet, Director General of the External Security Organization, and is expected to draw large crowds from across the region.

According to North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, joint security teams comprising the Uganda Police Force, Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), Uganda Prisons Service (UPS), and intelligence agencies have put in place comprehensive security arrangements to ensure the safety of the President and the public.

The main event will take place at Lango College Playground, where members of the public have been invited to attend.

Okema said heightened vigilance will be maintained throughout the period, with authorities warning of potential criminal activities such as theft, pickpocketing, robbery, and other opportunistic crimes that often arise during large gatherings.

He further cautioned that the anticipated influx of people into Lira City could lead to heavy traffic congestion, urging motorists and other road users to plan their journeys in advance, avoid reckless driving, and strictly observe traffic regulations.

“All attendees will be required to comply with security procedures, including screening at designated entry points,” Okema said, adding that security personnel will be operating walk-through machines at the venue.

Police also revealed that both foot and motorised patrols will be intensified, especially in identified crime-prone areas, alongside intelligence-led operations aimed at preventing any security threats.

The CCTV Command Centre will maintain 24-hour surveillance to support real-time monitoring and rapid response.

The North Kyoga Regional Police Command reassured the public of its full preparedness and commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure event.

Authorities have called on the public to remain law-abiding and to promptly report any suspicious individuals, items, or activities to security personnel.

“Security is a shared responsibility,” Okema emphasized.
