Private Guard Found in Bar During Working Hours Shoots Self Dead

Kampala police say they are investigating the death of a private security guard, Jacob Odeke, who was found with bullet wounds in a bar area in Lungujja, Lubaga division, after being replaced at a construction site.

Police in Kampala have kicked off investigations into circumstances under which a private security guard shot himself dead in Kampala.

The incident, according to Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala, the incident happened on Saturday in Community Zone in Lungujja, Lubaga division in Kampala, when Jacob Odeke attached to Grey Security Company shot himself dead.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that on the fateful day, the deceased who had been guarding a construction site was at about 10am sighted in a nearby bar and was called by his supervisor that he would be replaced,” Kawala said.

The Kampala police spokesperson said the security guard was later found dead with bullet wounds.

“Probably after those statements he went to a nearby room and shot himself dead. Investigations into the mater still ongoing.”

According to Police, investigations will help them understand the circumstances under which the security guard died.

Previously, there have been several cases of private security guards shooting themselves dead under various circumstances.
