Police in Lwengo District have launched investigations into the murder of a 40-year-old man whose body was discovered dumped along a roadside in Kyetume Village, Lwengo Rural Sub-county.

The deceased, identified as John Sempeebwa, was a farm manager working for a businessman identified as Muhigira. His body was found early Monday morning with severe injuries, including a cut neck and multiple wounds on the hands and legs.

According to residents, the circumstances suggest he may have been targeted by individuals known to him, possibly over financial disputes linked to his work.

Some locals alleged that the attackers could have been employees at the farm where he worked, citing his role in handling money transactions. However, police have not confirmed these claims.

Kyetume Village LC1 Chairperson Mathias Ssemakula noted concerns over rising violent crime in the area, calling for increased vigilance among residents.

Police reports indicate that Sempeebwa was also a member of a village savings group and had recently been in possession of group funds, though investigators say the motive has not yet been established.

Residents have also raised concerns about insecurity in the area, pointing to increased activity around local bars, though authorities have not linked this to the incident.

Police in Lwengo, led by District Criminal Investigations Officer Sylvia Musakuwona, visited the scene and documented evidence before transferring the body to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.

“We have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding this murder. We urge the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as we work to identify and arrest the perpetrators,” Musakuwona said.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the motive and identify those responsible for the killing.
