MBALE, Uganda — The community of Industrial City Division in Mbale City has saluted the Health Management Committee (HUMIC) of Bukasakya Health Centre IV and its staff for excellent community service. The chairman of Bukasakya Health Centre IV, located in Industrial City Division, Steven Masiga, commended the staff for outstanding work across all health services.

Masiga told The Ankole Times by telephone from Mbale City that last month alone, the facility successfully conducted 19 C-section operations, all resulting in healthy, bouncing babies. “I salute the new Dr. Tom Namonyo and his team,” he said.

Dr. Tom Namonyo reportedly arrived with high spirits and, after conducting gynecology and antenatal assessments, carried out 19 successful C-section operations with a 100% success rate. Masiga noted that had these evaluations not been done promptly, the outcome could have been different. He also thanked the city authorities for deploying him as the in-charge, especially after the elevation of the facility to Health Centre IV.

On behalf of the Health Management Committee (HUMIC), Masiga also saluted the Mbale City Town Clerk, the Mayor of Industrial Division Hon. Muhamood Masaba, and the City Health Officer Dr. Mugonya for their routine managerial supervision and support, including the continued deployment of necessary staff as required under the Health Centre IV structure.

Masiga proposed the renaming of the facility to Industrial City Division Health Centre IV, noting that the matter lies with the council, since Bukasakya Sub-county no longer exists after it was merged into Industrial Division.

He also thanked members of the Health Committee, the Government of Uganda for drug supplies, and Spotlight Africa for continued donor support.

The health facility was recently elevated to Health Centre IV by the Government of Uganda and Mbale City Council, following support from Spotlight Africa, including the donation of theatre equipment, a key requirement for the upgrade.

The community has expressed appreciation to HUMIC, staff, and Mbale City leadership for the improved service delivery.
