BREAKING: Fire Engulfs Haruna Tower in Wandegeya
A major fire has broken out at Haruna Tower in Kkubbiri, Wandegeya, sending thick smoke into the sky as police secure the scene while firefighters are yet to arrive.
A fire has broken out at Haruna Tower in Kkubbiri, Wandegeya, with thick smoke seen billowing from the six-storey building.
The building is located opposite Prophet Samuel Kakande's synagogue.
Witnesses say flames were first spotted on one of the upper floors before rapidly spreading, prompting panic in the busy trading area.
Police have since arrived at the scene and have cordoned off the area to control human movement and secure the surroundings as efforts to prevent further risk continue.
However, fire and rescue services had not yet arrived at the scene at the time of reporting.
The cause of the fire had not yet been established by press time, and authorities are expected to issue a detailed statement once emergency operations begin.
Residents and businesses in the vicinity remain on alert as the situation develops.
