MBALE CITY: Boda Boda Rider Crashes Into Truck’s Rear Tyres, Killing Passenger on Spot

A fatal accident occurred on April 23, 2026, at around 10:05 pm near IUIU taxi stage, along the Mbale-Kumi Road in Mbale City claiming the life of one person.

According to SP Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, the accident occurred when a Boda Boda rider carrying two male passengers, attempted to overtake the truck on the left side of the road. Both motorcycle and Truck were from Mbale City heading towards Nakaloke.

He explains that while overtaking, the rider swerved to avoid a cyclist and crashed into the rear tyres of a HOWO truck, Reg No. UBP 542J/ UBP 400K, driven by Kidoda Hussein, 41, from Tororo District, killing one passenger instantly.

A HOWO truck, reg. no. UBP 542J/ UBP 400K, driven by Kidoda Hussein, 41, from Tororo District, was involved in a collision with a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, reg. no. UFK 262S, whose rider is yet to be identified.

He says the accident was caused by careless overtaking of motorcycle rider of Bajaj reg. no. UFK 262S, whose identity has not yet been verified.

The vehicles are parked in the CPS yard pending inspection, while the deceased’s body is at Mbale city mortuary for postmortem. The injured second passenger is receiving treatment at Mbale Referral Hospital.
