UBC Journalist, Two TikTokers Jailed for Mudslinging Masaka City Woman MP Elect-Nameere
The Masaka Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded UBC TV journalist Frank Bwekumbule, alongside TikTokers Frank Kaggwa and Joseph Kikawa for allegedly mudslinging Masaka City Woman MP-elect, Justine Nameere Nsubuga.
The trio appeared before His worship Abdallah Kayiza, who indicted them with personation on Thursday April 23, 2026. However, they denied any wrongdoing.
The trio applied for bail but court deferred their bail application to a later date on grounds that the state prosecutor, Michael Wakosase, was absent from court on official duties.
Prosecution alleges that between March and April 2026, the accused allegedly used TikTok platforms to record, publish, and circulate videos containing malicious information while falsely presenting themselves as journalists.
Earlier in the week, the Regional police spokesperson Twaha Kasirye told media that the accused persons were arrested over alleged publication of false information targeting Woman MP-elect Justin Nameere.
AfandeTwaha revealed that the suspects posted content claiming Nameere obtained coffee seedlings from farmers without payment, allegations police say were malicious and intended to tarnish her reputation
Meanwhile, His worship Kayiza adjourned the matter and remanded the trio to Masaka prisons till May 7, 2026, when they will return to court for mention of their cases.
