Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has invited Chief of Defence Forces General Muhoozi Kainerugaba to address Members of Parliament on how the legislature can strengthen collaboration with security agencies.

Speaking on Thursday evening in Kampala, Among addressed Michael Nuwagira, popularly known as “Toyota,” who is a prominent Ugandan mobilizer and political figure currently serving as the National Vice Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) led by Gen. Muhoozi.

“Chairman Toyota, as you give a feedback of today’s function, we want to request you that during our induction, we want to request General MK to come and deliver a paper to the members of Parliament of how best as Parliament of Uganda can work together with security, with his office, to make Uganda even better than the way it is,” Among said.

She added: “How best we can be of support as members of Parliament to work for this country. And I would be glad to have that.”

The invitation comes ahead of the induction program for lawmakers, which follows the swearing-in of Members of Parliament held from May 13th to 15th. The induction aims to orient MPs on parliamentary procedures, legislation, and oversight.

Among said closer engagement with the security sector would help MPs understand national priorities and improve coordination between Parliament and the UPDF.

General Muhoozi, who serves as CDF and leads the PLU, has been vocal on regional security and discipline within the armed forces. His expected lecture would cover practical ways Parliament can support security operations and policy.

Parliamentary officials said the induction sessions are meant to equip both new and returning MPs to legislate effectively and contribute to Uganda’s stability and development.
