KATAKWI: Angry Mob Lynches 3 Karamojong Warriors after Shooting Local in Buttocks with Arrows
Local residents of Alengo village, Ngariam Parish, Ngariam Sub County in Katakwi district have lynched three suspected Karamojong warriors after the latter shot one of the residents in the buttocks with an arrow.
According to IP Longole, ASTU/Karamoja Police Spokesperson, the incident occurred on 24th April, 2026 at about 4:00PM after a group of eight armed raiders were intercepted hiding in a bush in which one of them shot a resident who saw them.
Longole says, the injured resident, Joseph Ijakol spotted the 8 hiding in a bush and raised an alarm. The warriors responded by shooting in the buttocks with an arrow. The pain prompted Ijakol to cry for help which drew the attention of locals.
The residents gave chase and managed to get three whom they killed on the spot while the remaining 5 managed to run and hide in the bushes.
The situation only normalized after the intervention of ASTU, however, the angry residents were determined to hunt down the remaining 5 and lynch them as well.
Longole says the 3 bodies were conveyed to Katakwi General Hospita while Ijakol was also rushed to the same hospital where he is recovering from.
