Mpuuga Speaks Out as Besigye Marks 70th Birthday Behind Bars at Luzira

Former Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga has joined political allies in paying tribute to Dr Kizza Besigye as supporters marked his 70th birthday while he remains in detention at Luzira Prison.

Mpuuga attended a commemoration event organised by the Federal of Freedom Party (PFF) in Kampala, where opposition figures reflected on Besigye’s long political career and his continued incarceration.

Besigye has been in detention since November 2024 after being arrested in Nairobi, Kenya, and returned to Uganda.
