Among Meets Pope Leo XIV in Rome
KAMPALA — Uganda’s Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, has met Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican in Rome, adding to her recent international and faith-based engagements.
Images seen by this publication show Among greeting the Pope in a formal setting, the two sharing a brief but warm exchange.
When asked to confirm her presence in Rome, the Speaker responded: “Yes.”
In the photos, Among is dressed in a white formal outfit, smiling and standing with her hands clasped in a respectful gesture.
Pope Leo XIV, in traditional papal attire, is seen holding a rosary, appearing to present or bless it during the encounter.
The interaction takes place in a large hall filled with other attendees, security personnel and photographers, suggesting a public audience rather than a private meeting.
The meeting builds on Among’s previous engagements with Pope Francis, whom she met on several occasions before his papacy ended.
