Police at Kira Division have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 52-year-old woman in a case believed to involve human sacrifice, after her decomposing body was discovered inside the home of her biological sister.

The deceased has been identified as Naziwa Oliver, a resident of Kito A, Kirinya in Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.

According to reports, a missing person case was filed at Kira Police Station on April 28, 2026, indicating that Naziwa had not been seen since October 2025. The report was lodged by Ssemukuye Charles, who said efforts to trace her had been unsuccessful despite involving the LC1 chairperson.

It is alleged that the deceased had been living with the suspects before her disappearance. When summoned by local authorities, the suspects reportedly claimed that she was still alive but had gone away for prayers and would eventually return.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said detectives from Kira Police Station were dispatched to search the suspects’ premises. During the operation, a decomposing body believed to be that of Naziwa Oliver was found in a locked room. Clothes suspected to belong to the deceased were also recovered.

Two suspects have since been arrested: Nanyonjo Rose, 56, a biological sister to the deceased, and another female adult identified as Nasejje, both residents of Kito, Kirinya. The body was discovered in a room belonging to Nanyonjo Rose, who owns the house.

Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects were operating a cult that allegedly conducted prayer sessions, discouraged members from seeking medical treatment, and opposed formal burial practices when members died.

Police say the deceased was reportedly a member of the same group and had been living with the suspects prior to her disappearance.

The body has been taken to City Mortuary Mulago for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.
