A fire that broke out at 2:30AM Wednesday morning has burnt down two pork joints and a salon at Kinawataka, a Kampala City suburb.

According a police statement issued today, Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the fire outbreak was reported at Jambula Boda Boda Stage in Kinawataka Zone One, Mbuya One Parish, Nakawa Division, Kampala District.

The incident was first observed by a boda boda rider, who raised an alarm and alerted nearby residents before notifying police at Kinawataka Police Station.

Police officers at Kinawataka Police Station responded with a Fire Prevention and Rescue Services team and successfully extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby wooden structures.

Preliminary findings however, indicate that one salon and two pork joints were completely destroyed by the fire. The cause of the fire has been attributed to a charcoal stove that was left unattended in one of the pork joints.

All the affected property is reported to belong to a person only identified as Edgar, the landlord of the premises.
