Leaders of the Federation of Uganda Traders Association are concerned about the various trade unions cropping up to oppose the planned compensation of traders whose merchandise was destroyed by floods in downtown Kampala last year. FUTA President John Kabanda says that the organisation has started following up on the traders from the time the incident happened, but they are surprised that many are only now starting to follow up on the matter, which amounts to delayed payments. The amount to be compensated to the traders is now uncertain, despite the President giving them Shs20 billion, while other entities claim it is Shs7 billion.
