Hellen Lukoma: Age is an achievement, not an insult

Closer to her forties, Ugandan actress and musician Hellen Lukoma has urged her fellow agemates in the entertainment circles to embrace their age and count it as a blessing from God.

Often, entertainers find it hard to reveal their age when asked. Some go an extra mile in lying about their age just to stay young in people’s eyes.

Hellen Lukoma is not one of those.

She emphasizes that despite old age being used as a base of criticsm today, older people should count longevity as their blessing.

In a brief chat with the media, Lukoma noted how she has been able to achieve so much through the years she has existed, and she thanks God for her longevity.

People use old age as an insult, but they forget it is such a blessing from God. I am not saying I am young, but I am proud of where I am. At my age, I have achieved a lot that many people might never get to achieve. I am an old woman and comfortable with my achievements.
