JUST IN: Muhoozi Retracts Endorsement Of Anita Among And Tayebwa For Re-election In Parliament

Members of Parliament who were elected in the January 2026 Elections are set to start swearing in tomorrow after Museveni was sworn in for the 7th elective term today at Kololo ceremonial grounds in an event that drew crowds from wide and large.

Ahead of the swearing in of Members of parliament is a heated Speaker race that has attracted several candidates but battle lines have so far been drawn between Bukedea Woman MP Anita Annette Among and Laro-Pece MP also Democratic Party President General Norbert Mao.

In the mix of controversies, the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) a political wing belonging to the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Muhoozi Keinerugaba has this evening retracted their endorsement of Thomas Tayebwa and Anita Among for re-election as Deputy Speaker and Speaker respectively in the 12th parliament.

“The Endorsement of Rt. Hon. Anita Annete Among and Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa as candidates for Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively for the 12th Parliament of Uganda vide a letter date 11th March 2026 is retracted and withdrawn with immediate effect”- reads part of the letter.

The retraction of the endorsement comes at the heels of reports of corruption at parliament with Anita Among and Tayebwa being accused of orchestrating corrupt cartels in parliament.

Also owing to this decision is Muhoozi’s tweets where he threw a number of banters and jibes to Anita Among for shipping in a Shs3.7billion Rolls Royce which was delivered by aircraft from London two weeks ago.

PLU believes in the reduction of ANY monies sent to parliament. We believe in redirecting that money to the millions of Ugandans living in shacks, with no water or power.

The Patriotic League of Uganda now advises it’s members who are majorly in the NRM caucus to instead support the candidates who will be presented to them by President Museveni signaling a shift in alliances and a possible candidate other than Anita Among and Tayebwa
