Police in Omoro District have launched serious investigations after unknown armed assailants attacked a female police officer at Lalogi Police Barracks and escaped with a police gun loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition.

The shocking incident happened on the morning of May 11, 2026, at around 8:30am during a heavy downpour. According to the police report registered under Omoro CRB 320/2026, the victim was identified as AIP Awor Beatrice, the Officer in Charge of Lalogi Subcounty Police Station.

Reports indicate that the attackers, believed to be two men armed with metal objects, stormed the officer’s uniport house located inside Lalogi Police Barracks. At the time of the attack, AIP Awor was reportedly seated inside her house while the rain was heavily falling.

The assailants allegedly entered through the open uniport and suddenly grabbed the officer before violently attacking her. During the struggle, the attackers reportedly strangled her and hit her several times on the head using a metallic object believed to resemble a hammer.

Police say the officer fought back and a serious scuffle followed inside the house. However, the attackers reportedly overpowered her, leaving her unconscious on the scene before escaping with an SMG rifle registered as UG POL 48014235-15938 together with 30 rounds of ammunition.

The incident immediately sparked panic within the police barracks and surrounding area, with officers responding quickly after the attack was reported. Detective Constable Kalaja Sowed, who is attached to CID Lalogi, together with Police Constable Akwi Grace, reportedly rushed to the scene and ensured the injured officer was taken to Lalogi Health Centre IV for urgent medical treatment.

Senior police commanders, including the District Police Commander of Omoro and his team, also responded to the scene. The area was reportedly secured and preserved for photography, documentation, and further investigations.

Police confirmed that the stolen firearm remains missing and that the suspects had not yet been identified by the time of filing the report. Security agencies have since intensified operations and investigations aimed at tracking down the attackers and recovering the gun before it is used in criminal activities.

The attack has raised fresh concerns over the security of police officers even within protected barracks areas. Residents and local leaders in Omoro have reportedly expressed fear over the increasing boldness of criminals targeting security personnel.

Authorities say inquiries into the aggravated robbery are ongoing, while the hunt for the suspects continues.
