Museveni Inauguration: 17 Arrested Over Crimes at Kololo
Seventeen suspects are in police custody following a series of incidents during President Yoweri Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony at Kololo Independence Grounds yesterday.
Police reported arrests for suspected mobile phone theft, general theft, common nuisance, attempted theft, and possession of knives. Two children were also recovered after being abandoned by their parents amid the crowds.
In total, 37 individuals required medical attention during the event. Sixteen were referred to Naguru Hospital, and another sixteen to Mulago Hospital for further care.
Despite these incidents, Police Spokesman Rusoke Kituuma described the ceremony as generally peaceful, with security teams responding swiftly to maintain order.
