TRAGIC! Busitema University Student Found Dead in Suspected Suicide

Police in Mbale City are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a student of Busitema University who allegedly died by suicide in his rented room in Mbale Northern City Division.

The deceased has been identified as Icodo Solomon, a student at the university. He was reportedly found hanging with a rope inside his rented room in Kisenye Cell, Nabuyonga Ward.

According to the LC1 chairperson of the area, Wamboya Issa, the incident was discovered on Thursday morning, 14th May, 2026 when the deceased’s roommate returned home from night duty and found Solomon hanging inside the room.

Wamboya revealed that before the incident, the deceased had allegedly sent his roommate a text message apologizing for his actions and thanking him for the good time they had shared together.

The discovery shocked residents, who immediately alerted local leaders and police officers. Police later arrived at the scene, documented evidence, and commenced investigations into the matter.

The body was retrieved and taken for postmortem examination as authorities continue to establish the exact circumstances and motive behind the suspected suicide.

Police had not yet issued an official statement by press time.
