Police Reveals Cause Of Accident That Claimed President Museveni’s Advisor Karangwa
Police have confirmed the fatal road traffic crash that led to the death of Senior Presidential Adviser on Special Duties Moses Karangwa Kaliisa in Kayunga District following a serious accident along the Kayunga–Jinja Road.
According to the Uganda Police Force, the crash occurred on the night of 17 May 2026 at approximately 21:00 PM at Suuka Village near the Lake Oil petrol station.
The incident involved a Toyota Hilux, registration number UG 0101 151, and an unidentified motorcycle that was reportedly entering the main road at the time of the collision.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Hilux was moving from Kayunga towards Jinja when it struck the motorcycle, leading to a loss of control by the driver.
Police further report that the vehicle overturned multiple times after the impact, resulting in serious injuries to three occupants who were inside the pickup at the time of the crash.
Among the injured was Karangwa, who sustained critical injuries and was first rushed to Kayunga Regional Referral Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Due to the severity of his condition, he was later transferred to Nakasero Hospital in Kampala, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Investigations are ongoing as authorities continue to establish the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
