Tragedy in Kitoro as Woman Allegedly Stabs Herself During Family Disagreement
Police in Entebbe are investigating a suspected suicide case involving a 22-year-old housewife identified as Nakigudde Carol, a resident of Kitoro Zone in Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District. The tragic incident reportedly happened during the night of May 16, 2026, and has left residents of the area shocked and saddened.
According to a police statement released by Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Kawala Racheal, the incident followed a domestic disagreement between the deceased and her husband, Husama Mukiibi, at their home in Kitoro. It is alleged that the disagreement began after Nakigudde demanded Shs450,000, money she was expecting to receive from a local savings group.
Police say the money had reportedly been delivered through her husband, but he allegedly did not hand it over to her, leading to a heated argument between the couple. During the confrontation, Nakigudde allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed herself around the neck despite efforts by her husband to stop her.
She was immediately rushed to Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital for emergency medical attention. However, she later succumbed to the injuries at around 1:00am on May 17, 2026.
The incident has once again raised concerns about the growing effects of domestic misunderstandings and emotional distress within families. Police have confirmed that investigations into the matter are still ongoing to establish all the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Authorities have also used the incident to encourage victims of domestic violence and family-related conflicts to seek help before situations escalate. The Police Child and Family Protection Unit continues to offer support, counseling, and guidance to individuals facing domestic challenges.
The death of Nakigudde Carol has deeply affected members of the community, with many calling for increased awareness about mental health, conflict resolution, and family counseling. Residents described the incident as heartbreaking, especially considering the young age of the deceased.
Police have urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue and appealed to families to embrace dialogue and seek assistance whenever faced with domestic disputes or emotional stress.
