TORORO: Decomposing Body of Unidentified Man Discovered Near Sewage Plant
Police in Tororo District have launched investigations into the death of an unidentified man whose decomposing body was found floating in water near the Tororo Municipal Council sewage plant.
The grim discovery was made on 20th May 2026 at around 11:00 a.m. in Bison ‘B’ Cell, Maguria Ward, Western Division, according to Bukedi South Regional Police Spokesperson, Moses Johnson Mugwe.
Mugwe said the area Chairman of Bison ‘B’ Cell, Yusuf Bogere, received a tip-off about a body floating in a pool of water and immediately reported the matter to police after confirming it.
“The crime scene was visited and documented by SOCO and a team of homicide detectives,” Mugwe stated.
Preliminary findings indicate that the body of an unidentified man was found floating under a bridge along Mile One Mbale Road in a decomposing state.
The body has since been retrieved and taken to Tororo Municipal Mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
The exact time and date of the incident remain unknown, and police say the circumstances surrounding the death are still under investigation.
Mugwe appealed to members of the public who may have a missing relative to come forward.
“I urge the public who could have lost their dear one to visit Tororo Municipal Mortuary and help in identifying the deceased. If identified, share the details with us to support investigations and to accord the deceased a decent burial,” he said.
